Mayor & Council Let Time Stop in Harrison

Friends of Harrison is in favor of a Development:

Harrison is in a drastic need of a Development.

A development that would help all Harrisonians.

Phases of this plan look great, but It's our belief that developers have to much control.

The loss of JFK Stadium proves our point.

We do not agree with the current redevelopment plan.

►6-7,000 new residential units!  Most of which will have 2-3 bedrooms.  You have to assume 6-7,000

►New Children to educate.  There is no new Schools forecasted in this development plan.

►The town of Harrison's property value will decrease, while taxes will increase.

►Harrison will lose it's Abbott District monies as well as it's Distress Money from the State when the average house hold income increases because of the sale of these $400,000+ condos.

►Taxes will increase to compensate the tax breaks developers are getting,

while the services by the town and demand for schools increase.

Don't take our word,

Check out the Redevelopment plan for yourself:

Harrison Redevelopment Plan:

Pages 61-80

How will the Redevelopment Affect You?

The current plan includes 7,000+

 residential units (Condos).

The current plan includes a 25,000 seat stadium

backed by tax payers.

**Do you know that 7,000 condos can bring up to 14,000 new residents?

**Do you know the current population of Harrison  as of the census of 2000, is 14,424 people, 5,136 households, and 3,636 families residing in the town?

-That's 2.8 per household 7,000 condos = 19,659 new residents

or a total of 34,083 residents!

Can you imagine if this current re-development plan goes into effect.

The population will be close to 35,000 people.

(now add a 25,000 fans for a soccer game)

*No new Schools

*No Recreational Space

*No Swimming pools for Harrisonians

*No SENIOR HOUSING

*No new Fire / Police Stations

*No low income Housing

Lets keep Harrison Beautiful

Lets not make the redevelopment a focal point for our election,

just proof that the Mayor & Council are blinded by developers.

Mayor Raymond McDonough & Council are putting these Developers before Harrisonians.

Just like they did when they removed the JFK Stadium.

Leaving the kids stranded with no field to play ball.  Possible kids lost scholarships because of this.  It's Just not right, and Mayor & Council won't let you speak about it at a town meeting because it's never on the AGENDA, that's not right we are tax payers.

Have you ever walked along the waterfront in NYC, from Battery Park to the Chelsea pears?  It's beautiful. worth the trip one day, you can take your bike and ride on the bike path they made.  Every so many yards or so they made places for people to spend time.  Whether it was a basketball court, dog walk or a bench with a table to play checkers, the waterfront is beautiful.  Harrison has the opportunity to accomplish this, but we need Harrisonians to get involved.  Springfield NJ, has a wonderful public pool park, in which residents & guest of Springfield, can enjoy a beautiful pool.  All summer long they have activities for the youth, while parents can hang pool side.  WHY CAN'T WE DO THE SAME IN HARRISON?  Look at the plans for your-self.

Is Mayor McDonough and the Council Concentrating Too Much On Redevelopment Area and not on the current business district, or the rest of Harrison?  What's your opinion.

We Need Your Help to Improve the Quality of life in Harrison.

For all Harrisonians
